Guides & Tips

The first time you sign in, ZAPTIZ asks you one question — what would you like to do first? — and then helps you do exactly that. This page explains everything it shows you, and how to turn any of it off.

This is not the setup wizard

Company Onboarding is a one-time wizard the Company Admin runs to set the business up: plan, modules, invites. What's on this page is different — it's your personal walkthrough, and everyone gets it, including everyone who joins later by invitation.

What you'll see

1. The welcome

One screen, one question. Pick what you came to do — "Send a quotation today", "Buy material for an order", "Chase overdue money" — and ZAPTIZ starts you there and reorders your checklist to match.

There's always a Skip — I'll explore on my own option, and closing the box counts as skipping. It won't ask twice.

2. The walkthrough

A short, guided tour that highlights one thing at a time and explains what it's for. Two kinds:

  • Getting around — five steps covering the menu, search, the assistant, alerts and your account. Every role gets this one.
  • Your first win — walks the actual job you were hired to do, across real pages: an enquiry to a quotation to an order, or a shortage to a purchase order to a delivery.

Leaving a tour is completely safe — nothing is half-finished, because a tour only ever shows you things. It never creates or changes any data.

3. Your getting-started checklist

A small panel in the bottom-right corner with four to seven things worth doing in your first week. It's tailored to your role: a Sales Executive is asked to build a quotation, an Accountant to raise an invoice.

The important part: it ticks itself. Add your first customer and the box ticks — because the customer exists, not because you clicked something. You never have to mark things done or keep it honest yourself.

A small number of items can't be detected that way (opening a report leaves no record), and those show an I've done this link instead. Everything else fills in on its own.

You can also:

  • Skip a task — click the ✕ on it. It greys out and stops counting toward your progress. Show skipped at the bottom brings it back.
  • Hide the whole list — it shrinks to a small pill. Clicking the pill brings it straight back.

4. Page tips

Most pages open with a short banner explaining what the page is for and the three things people usually do on it. Close it with the ✕ and it becomes a small How do I use this page? link.

These now follow you, not your browser — dismiss a tip on your laptop and it stays dismissed on your phone.

Turning it all off

Settings → Guides & Tips, or press Ctrl+K and type guides.

The Show product guides switch silences everything: no welcome, no tours, no page banners, no checklist. Switch it back on whenever you like — nothing is lost while it's off.

Starting again

Any of these bring the guides back:

  • Avatar menu → Show me around — replays the walkthrough immediately.
  • Settings → Guides & Tips → Reset all guides — clears everything you've dismissed and shows the welcome again on your next page. Useful if you've changed role, or skipped it and wish you hadn't.
  • A link from our support team — if you ask "how do I raise a purchase order?", the reply may include a link that drops you straight into that walkthrough.

Resetting doesn't undo any work: tasks you genuinely completed stay ticked, because you genuinely completed them.

If a walkthrough stops early

Occasionally a tour ends with a note saying it couldn't open a screen. That's deliberate — it means the step pointed somewhere your role can't reach, or a module your company has switched off, and stopping cleanly is better than pointing at nothing.

You can restart from Settings → Guides & Tips. If it keeps happening, tell us from Help & Support — that's a fault worth fixing on our side, not yours.
